So… in yesterday’s marketing meeting, my hand shot up to volunteer (are you kidding me?) to be the blog person for our company, Timbercrest Builders. Why? Because I have a lot to say about custom home building! Anyone that knows me, knows that I am beyond passionate about new home construction and the creative process of partnering with our homeowners in customizing their homes.
My name is Annie Grill. I am the Designer for Timbercrest Builders, a custom home builder in Northeastern Pennsylvania near the shores of beautiful Lake region in heart of the Poconos. But more about me and the team later….
Today was a typical day for the Timbercrest team. It was a cold day on the shores of Lake Wallenpaupack. Paul and I met with our wonderful homeowners, Tom and Maryann, at the home we are building for them on the lake. We met to discuss details of the full masonry fireplace that goes on their spacious screened porch. The family will spend many evenings by that fireplace watching the sunset on Lake Wallenpaupack. The fireplace will be situated in the gable end of the porch, with the header height set at approximately 10 feet. We could do either a flat ceiling, which will be pine tongue and groove, or we could take the ceiling to a volume ceiling giving it a more dramatic presence I sketched up a couple options and we decided to raise the ceiling height. It will be such a wonderful feature in this fabulous home. I love when an opportunity presents itself and we can make it all happen. I look forward to showing you pictures of the of the completed fireplace.
Next on the agenda was a trip to our flooring showroom with Tom and Maryann. We have chosen an engineered hardwood for much of the flooring, so today we were looking for tile for the bathrooms. In the owners’ suite, we have a barrier free shower…. meaning it has an open side that is level to the floor which eliminates the obstacle of stepping over a curb or wall and easily allows for wheelchair accessibility. It is a beautiful look, as well as practical, for considering the future needs of aging in place. Maryann and Tom chose a gorgeous flat rock look for the floor of the shower with a distressed wood tile for the walls of the shower. Their home has a lot of wood details, large beams in the great room ceiling, a tongue and groove ceiling in a rectangular design in the entryway, rustic alder kitchen cabinets and engineered hardwood throughout the first floor. The tile selections reflect the earthy style in their clean, Contemporary Craftsman style home. The first round of flooring selections went really well.
It was a good, productive day in the life of the team at Timbercrest Builders and our homeowners, Tom and Maryann. Next time I will tell you some exciting news about Paul Szostak, owner of Timbercrest Builders, and his very active involvement with Pennsylvania Builders Association. We are very proud of him.
